My Week with Mom (Part 2)

On Day 3, we spent the day in Newport Beach, which is only about 15 minutes from our house. Doug was sweet and planned a day for us! He booked a cruise for us and found a delicious restaurant for us to try! The cruise took us to see sea lions and celebrity homes...both things are right up our alley! :)

I think this was Shirley Temple's house.

This house belonged to the CEO of Gillette. When he died, he gave it to his 2 sons to share, but they never got along, so they decided to split it down the middle into 2 houses! The one on the left built an extra few feet onto the front so the brother on the right couldn't see the ocean from his window. Ha!

This house has a cave underneath it, and they have a glass floor in the kitchen so they can see into it!

I can't remember who lives here...but it's probably someone cool! haha It's been too long! It may have been Sara Lee?

This was Nicholas Cage's house. He recently sold it because random people would just swim up to his house!

I don't remember whose house this is, but I love it!

And this was my favorite house...it belongs to the founder of Yahoo and I want it!

Honestly, the best part of our day was the auto ferry. When we were driving to Balboa, my GPS took me to this dead end where we had to get on it! It was SO. COOL. It was $1/car/person! We may have ridden it about 8 times, both in our car and on foot :)

We walked around Balboa Island for a bit and came across this adorable house. I changed my mind, this is the house I want!

We ended the day at Wilma's Patio, a cute little restaurant off the main street of Balboa Island.

I don't have any pictures from our last day, but we stayed in Irvine and ate (surprise, surprise), shopped, and snuggled with the fur babies.

It was seriously one of my favorite weeks ever....come back any time, Mom! :)

  2. Okay, now I know why we are friends. Balboa is my favorite place in Southern California-by far! The home tour is awesome and we both love the same houses. Marco and I always say we don't want a house in Beverly Hills, we want a beach house on Balboa. So glad you had a great time with your mom!!

  6. I'm here from Kelly's Korner too. Did you see John Wayne's house? I think that Nic Cage had to sell because of financial problems. He declared bankruptcy a few years ago.
