Life Lately

Since I've joined Instagram, I've been using my camera phone more and my DSLR a whole lot less. I've contemplated whether or not to share those on here and ultimately decided that this blog, more than anything, is a scrapbook of our lives so I want to include those instagram photos, even though a lot of you may already seen them if you follow me on there! I print this blog into books so I want to remember those photos, too! So here's a mix of Instagram and other iPhone pictures of our life lately.

Everybody pile on Daddy :)

Cutest face in the whole world

One of my new favorite dresses from where else, Target! I have Meghan to thank for this...she posted it on Instagram and I had to run out and get it, too! Notice the photo-bomb from all 3 pets? :) Also- I feel really awkward about selfies, but for some reason, chopping my head off in them makes me feel a little less awkward about it...that's why I'm headless here :)

I don't think I ever posted about my trip to Destin with my 2 best friends. SO MUCH FUN! Suzanne, on the right, just got engaged so the weekend was full of wedding planning and dress shopping! I love these girls, and we're planning to make this trip an annual tradition.

Best part of being in Atlanta? These adorable people right here!

And having a fun dinner date with Chelsea and Ashley!

Doug and I were walking around in Macy's when I spotted a teenage guy with a bird on his shoulder. His name was Rick (the bird, not the boy) and I'm usually not a big fan of birds, but we hit it off right away. Since being in California, I've seen a dog, cat, bird, and pig at the mall. It's a whole different world out here!

Doug and I had a fun date night with Steve Miller Band...our 5th time seeing him!

Thank y'all SO MUCH for all of the well wishes and encouragement about my announcement! It's been so exciting, and it's definitely been keeping me busy! I just loved this quote from my friend Anna's instagram...it feels great to finally take a risk!

My business cards are in! And they accidentally sent me twice as many as I ordered! Thank you, Zazzle!

I find them in adorable positions like this everyday, but it never gets old!

Funny story about Diego...he LOVES Maisy's bed and is always stealing it. So Doug got the blanket that he loves and laid it right next to the bed so he would sleep there and Maisy could have her bed. Looks like he didn't get the memo, and poor Maisy is too sweet to kick him out!

And finally, DEXTER IS BACK!!!

What I'm Loving Lately

Gel nail polish- I was very apprehensive about trying these because of some reviews I read online- some people say they damage your nails. But I finally tried them and loved them! They stayed on for about 3 weeks with no chipping! And removal was so easy- I actually did it myself at home! I didn't notice any difference in the strength of my nails after removing them either. I plan on only getting gel for special occasions, just to make sure my nails stay healthy and strong. Have you tried gel before?

Doug and I watched Duck Dynasty for the first time about a month ago, and OH MY WORD, we are obsessed! I don't know if I've ever laughed so hard during a show. They are all hilarious and lovable, but Si is obviously my favorite. We have already watched every episode and are now depressed that we have to wait for Season 4.

I recently bought my first Thirty One bag, and I absolutely love it! It's the Large Utility Tote, and I usually keep it in the back of my car to carry in groceries. Lauren is a friend of mine from high school, and she was so helpful as I ordered these! Check out her page if you'd like one of your own!

I just love this picture so much. I mean, how much sweeter can it get?

While Maisy was recovering from her surgery, I watched the whole Friday Night Light series. So many people told me that it was the best show ever, and I must say that it lived up to every expectation! I was SO SAD when it ended. Tami Taylor is probably my favorite character of all time, and I am a little bit in love with Tim Riggins and Coach. I just want more! I heard that they're writing a script for a movie? I hope it happens!

I'm also loving that in 2 short days, we will be in Cancun! We are going back to where we honeymooned for our 3rd anniversary, and it's literally all we can think about these days. Unlimited food, margaritas, and daily poker tournaments....paradise, here we come!

My goal was to lose 15 pounds by the time we went to Mexico. Well, I've lost 12.5 pounds and I'm pretty dang happy about that! It was really hard work and some days I felt like quitting, but I am so happy that I stuck with it. I plan on splurging as much as I want on my vacation (hello, it's all-inclusive! It'd be a crime to not take advantage of that!) and then once I get back, I'll start working on losing the last 5 pounds. But for now, I'm going to be happy and celebrate this achievement that I never thought I'd see!

And with a little weight loss and an upcoming vacation, I've treated myself to a few new pretty things! I found this skirt and belt at a local consignment store- I got both for $14! Besides my wedding dress, I think this is the most excited I've ever been to wear an outfit! :)

Monday Ramblings

Just a bunch of randoms today!

Maisy
Last week, I took Maisy to the vet to have a lump on her arm looked at. She had surgery on Wednesday to have it removed, and of course, I was a nervous/crying wreck all day. When we brought her home, she was still super drugged and was just acting so pitiful. The kitties loved on her non-stop, kissing her all over her face and snuggling with her. This, of course, made me cry even more :) But a few days later, Maisy is feeling great and the lump is BENIGN!!!

Parenthood
When Maisy has surgery, I get super emotional and can't seem to leave her side until I know she's okay and feeling good. So since I had all of this down time, I decided to watch a series I'd heard such great things about- Parenthood. Y'all weren't kidding, this show is amazing. My favorite family is Sara's. As a Gilmore Girls fanatic, I love that Sara is very similar to Lorelei. I absolutely love Amber, and Drew is just adorable and so sweet. I just finished Season 3, but I know who Sara picks at the end of Season 4 and I am NOT happy about it. What did y'all think of it? (I'm trying not to spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it yet!)

Couch 2 5K
One of my (many) New Year's Resolutions is to complete Couch 2 5K. I tried it a year ago and made it 4 weeks before I quit. This time, I'm determined to finish it. I'm hoping it will make me enjoy running. Right now? I HATE IT. But I have hope that this will change! (For the record, I'm still going strong on all of my resolutions! I've never lasted this long before!)
Several people have asked what app this is- it's called Ease Into 5k but I think it's exactly the same format as Couch 2 5k. Plus, you can choose those fun little faces to describe how you were feeling on that day :)

LC Lauren Conrad
I have to share one of my favorite clothing lines- LC Lauren Conrad at Kohl's. I have found some of my favorite pieces from her line, and just recently I came across this gold foil sweater that's on sale! I've been obsessed with gold for a while now, so this just had my name all over it. Plus it has tiny bows on the back. What's not to love?

Boots
I also need to tell y'all about my newfound skin saver. I'll be completely honest, I take terrible care of my skin. I have the bad habit of sleeping with my makeup on (GASP!) and I rarely used moisturizer. Because of this, my pores are big. I really thought there wasn't much I could do to reverse this, but one fateful day in Target changed this. I was looking for a new moisturizer when the Boots rep came up to me and recommended their line of products. She told me it was "department store quality for drugstore price." And at this, I was sold! I bought the face wash, moisturizer, eye cream (my first time using eye cream!), and the pore refining serum. Y'all, this stuff works wonders. I've only been using it for a couple weeks, but I can tell a huge difference in my skin. Doug even noticed! My pores have reduced in size considerably, so I'm really excited to see what it'll look like in the upcoming weeks. I just bought the exfoliating mask today, and I have no doubt it'll be amazing, too!
*Boots has no idea I'm writing this...I just had to tell y'all about these products!*

Golden Globes: Best and Worst Dressed

It's here!!!!!!! Awards Season!!! For the most part, I really loved everyone's look last night. I prefer very classic and simple looks, so y'all will probably disagree with some of my choices! Here's my best and worst looks:

BEST

Of course, I have to say my girl Reese! She is my favorite actress/celebrity ever. I just adore her.

I think Michelle Williams seems so sweet and so humble. She's just adorable.

LOVE this.

For her age, I think Laura Dern looks incredible!

Charlize is stunning! I could have done without the big bow, though.

And this color is perfect on Octavia Spencer

I LOVE Felicity Huffman's dress and their song was so cute! It's much more fun when they put a little personality into the presentations.

Diane Lane is stunning in this gold gown!

I also think Claire Danes seems so sweet and down to earth.

Kate Winslet's dress wasn't my favorite, but I thought her hair and especially make up were flawless!

I loved this look but I felt like it should have been pulled up just a little! I was nervous that she'd have a wardrobe malfunction!

Jessica Alba is perfect in this gorgeous gown

But Stacy Keibler had my favorite dress of the night. Loved her hair, her makeup, and her arm candy :)

And of course I had to include this little cutie. I loved how he stole the spotlight during their speech!

WORST

Dianna Agron definitely disappointed me with this. She is so pretty and this was just too much for her petite frame.

Emma Stone is my other favorite actress/celeb. I ADORE her personality and sense of humor, and I usually love her red carpet looks. This one (and the eagle belt buckle) was not my favorite.

No no no no no no no no. NO.

I know this dress is on a lot of 'Best' lists, but I don't like the bottom at all! I'm a classic lines, minimalistic kinda girl. However, Elle is absolutely gorgeous.

Angelina needs to eat. She looks emaciated and cold....not a fan of this look or her!

I can't decide how I feel about Lea Michelle. Her red carpet faces annoy me....I think she just tries a little too hard! Plus this dress is the complete opposite of classy.

Nope...didn't like the colors or the feathers.

What did you think of the show/red carpet last night? Agree or disagree with my choices?
