Wednesday Ramblings

A few life updates, then I'm going to try to finish all of these drafts I have! So many things to say, so little time.

-First of all, THE HUNGER GAMES. It absolutely lived up to all of the hype. It took me months to start reading them, because I knew I would get sucked in and not be able to stop reading until I finished them all. And that was exactly what happened. During Maisy's recovery was the perfect time to read them, since I refused to leave her side for days. I ended up finishing all 3 within just a few days, and I was SO sad when it was over.
(SPOILER: if you haven't read them and don't want to know how it ends, just skip to the next paragraph :) I had heard that a lot of people didn't like the ending, and I have to say I was surprised by it. Through the books, I thought she would end up with Gale, but I actually liked that she ended up with Peeta. I was surprised by how little of a role Gale had in the books, too...I kept waiting for him to have a bigger part! Before reading them, I was all the way Team Gale (hello, Liam Hemsworth ;) but after finishing the books I couldn't help but be Team Peeta!
After I finished the first book, I saw the movie and I LOVED it, minus one thing- it made me SO motion-sick. I can't handle those shaky camera movies, but I made myself watch the whole thing anyways. I'm really hoping they don't do that for Catching Fire! But other than that, I thought they stayed very true to the book and the casting was perfect (except for Peeta's height...why is he shorter than Katniss!? that bugged me) Jennifer Lawrence is the perfect Katniss. I really wish the Twilight movies used the Hunger Games' casting director!! Those movies could have been so much better.

-I experienced my first earthquake on Monday. It about scared me to death! I was at work, playing with the baby when the whole house started to shake. It took me a second to realize what was happening, then I grabbed the baby and started running! haha I have no idea what I was running to! It probably only lasted 20 seconds, and I found out later that it was a 3.9 (I have no clue whether that's big or not....probably not, since there was no damage at all!) Nonetheless, it freaked me out!

-We also went to our first Dodger's game on Monday! We met up with our friends from Georgia, Jeremy and Emily, to cheer on the Braves! Sadly, we lost (they won the next night!) but we had a great time anyways. And guess who else was at the game....CHANDLER BING! I flipped out when they showed Matthew Perry on the screen, since FRIENDS is my all-time favorite show. I then started spewing out FRIENDS quotes and probably driving everyone crazy. Could I BE more annoying? (Please tell me you all read that in Chandler's voice! :)

Monday Ramblings

-Last Thursday, we lost a family member on Doug's side of the family. I feel that it's not my place to share any more about it on here, but I hope that those sweet family members who were affected by this tragedy know that we were thinking about them and praying for them all weekend.

-Since we've been so busy lately, Doug and I decided to have a low-key weekend. We did a little shopping, a little movie-watching (The Bodyguard and This Means War- it was hilarious! I highly recommend it!), and lots of good food. Today we went to Dave and Buster's and enjoyed every minute of the games we played. We are probably the most competitive couple you'll ever meet. We thrive on it!

-I have some big plans coming up in March. I'm going to Vegas for the first time, and then the following weekend I'm going home. I've been trying to get skinny for it, but I am having a hard time putting. down. the. chocolate. However, I have been more successful with the fitness aspect! Now that I'm nannying, I make sure to take the sweet baby on a walk everyday. 35 minutes, uphill, pushing a stroller...I can already feel a (little) difference!

-I saw my first chinchilla last week. Ohhhh my goodness, that is the cutest thing ever and I want need one. Hey- my birthday's in a month! ;)

-I'm realizing I really don't have that much to talk about right now. So when all else fails, why not just show y'all some cute pictures of Maisy! :)
I just can't help but smile at that last one! She is definitely more person than dog!

Cutest (Fictional) Couples

I've been watching Gilmore Girls recently, and I cannot explain in words how adorable I think Luke and Lorelai are. They are possibly my favorite fictional couple ever. I demand a GG movie! I want more!

This got me thinking about other ridiculously cute couples. Here are a few of my favorites.

Derek and Meredith
AH! I love them so much. The way he looks at her kills me. (I realize I sound crazy)

Jack and Rose
You are probably laughing at this one, but Titanic is tied for my all-time favorite movie. Jack Dawson is a dreamboat!

Marshall and Lily
(AKA Marshmallow and Lilypad)
These two are insanely adorable.

Ezra and Aria
These two newcomers definitely make the list. And the fact that their relationship is forbidden makes it even better :)

Noah and Allie
Greatest love story of all time!

Ross and Rachel
The series finale always makes me cry...she got off the plane!

Tenley and Kiptyn
Okay, so this one is not fictional! These are 2 of my favorite people from the Bachelor franchise, and I think they are THE cutest couple! They live in San Diego, and Doug says I should be friends with them. I agree, but I don't think there is a non-creepy way to make that happen. So I will love them from afar!

So who'd I miss? Who's your favorite celebrity or fictional couple?

**UPDATE! Brittany reminded me of Jim and Pam! Of course, they must be on the list!!

Wednesday Ramblings

First up, a weekend recap! On Saturday, we went with our Georgia friends Jeremy and Emily to the UGA vs. USC basketball game. It was 'UGA Day' and we went to the Alumni reception at the amazing Town and Gown. And UGA won the game, so it was a great night!

On Sunday, I drove up to LA for the Blogger Brunch my friend, Joelle, hosted! We went to Taste on Melrose in West Hollywood, and it was delicious!

(L--R) Leann from Join the Gossip, Tiffany (who needs to start a blog!), Joelle from Something Charming, Amanda from Beginning of Everything, and me!

(thanks for the pictures, Amanda!)

Thanks again Joelle for putting this together! Can't wait for the next one!

-I ADORE this new polish- Glitzerland by OPI. Have I mentioned how much I love glitter at Christmas time?

-Notice anything different around here? I got my first professional blog design and I couldn't be happier! I chose Smitten Blog Designs and Jacquelinne knew exactly what I was looking for.

-Doug and I saw New Year's Eve last week and I loved it! My favorite storyline was the Zac Efron one....so cute. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but I thought it was a happy chick flick that I'd love to see again.

-Our neighbors are petsitting for us again since we're going to Mississippi tomorrow to spend Christmas with Doug's family. To set up this story, you must know that this is their house:

And this is our house:

So one of their boys came over yesterday...this was our conversation:
boy: I like your Christmas tree.
me: Thank you!
boy: Are the icicle lights the only outdoor lights you have?
me: Yup...we're kind of amateurs.
boy: Well my dad has some extra lights if you want to use them.

I thought that was SO adorable! It was his nice way of telling me our house looks boring! :)

-And lastly, Maisy has been sporting a new look.
The fur just kills me! They also had matching boots but Doug drew the line there. It's a shame, because Maisy's #1 on her Christmas list was 'boots with the furrrr"

A Weekend Full of Friends

It seems like every time I come home to visit, my trip is packed full, and this time is no exception! Here's what I've done so far:

My mom and I went to the midnight premiere of Breaking Dawn. And my thoughts on it? I was a little disappointed. It was SUPER hokey at some parts (the werewolf voices KILLED me) and some of the acting was just so cheesy (more so than usual!) I've heard a lot of people feel the same way...hopefully they will hear this and make Part 2 a little better!

Then on Friday, I had a blate with Ashley from Run With Me! Y'all, she was ridiculously sweet....I had the best time with her! It's so true that if you like someone's blog, chances are you'll love them even more in person!

We met at Cafe Intermezzo in Atlanta, and I don't think we stopped talking the entire time. We will definitely be getting together the next time I'm in town!

On Saturday, I about had a stroke watching UGA beat Kentucky...they love to scare their fans like that! But we are SEC East champs! Woo hoo! Then I met up with my besties from high school, Suzanne and Rachael! I adore these girls, and I know we'll stay in touch for the long haul!

On Sunday, I went to our weekly family brunch at O'Charley's, then headed to meet my sweet, sweet roommate and best friend from college, Lesley Anne from Front Porch Sittin' with the Fentons! LA is actually the reason I started this blog! :)

the glorious red cup

We met up at Starbucks for 2 hours and chatted away, seeing as it had been over a year since we'd seen each other. I miss this girl so much (and her hubby Kyle!)...they were our favorite double date buddies! And LA, I know I told you a million times, but I LOVE your bangs!!

Tonight, I'm meeting up with 2 other wonderful friends from college! Have I mentioned how much I love coming home!?

By the way, Megan and I emailed everyone their Ornament Swap partners last night! Please let us know if you signed up but didn't get an email! Remember to ship your ornament by December 5th so we can all link-up our ornaments on the 14th :)

Twilight Re-Cast

As I mentioned last week, I bought my mom and I tickets for the Breaking Dawn midnight premiere. It would be an understatement to say I'm excited about this movie. I think this will be by far the best one yet. Wedding? Honeymoon? Vampire baby? Yes please.

I've never been a big fan of the casting in these movies, and I still don't find Robert Pattinson very attractive (except in Water for Elephants...that hair worked for him). I recently found this post where Gina listed her picks for each role. I agreed with many of them, but here's my dream Twilight cast.

Edward: As much as I like his personality for it, the looks just don't match up to his description. I completely agree with Gina that this guy fits the bill.

-------------

Bella: I was kind of torn on this one. When I first saw the movies, Kristen Stewart was not who I imagined Bella to be. I remember thinking that they changed her character the most...but I don't remember why. Now that I've seen the movies so many times, she's kind of grown on me. But I think Alexis Bledel is more of who I pictured in my head while reading.

---------------

Jacob: I would definitely keep Taylor Lautner. In spite of the fact that I HATED his long hair. Thank goodness that didn't last long.
----------------

Charlie: Definitely keep. He is perfect in this role.
---------------

Carlisle: I just don't like his fake blonde hair. I agree with Gina...two words.  Paul. Walker.

-----------------

Alice: Definitely keep. Ashley Greene is perfect for the adorable pixie-like character.
---------------

Esme: I'm having a hard time coming up with a replacement, so I guess I'll just stick with their choice.
--------------

Rosalie: I think we need more of a bombshell for this role. Charlize Theron would be a perfect Rosalie.

---------------

Emmett: At first, I was going to keep Emmett. And then I remembered Channing Tatum.

----------------

Jasper: DEFINITELY change. I had a hard time thinking of who would be good for this role though. Zac Efron? Ryan Gosling? I think Gina nailed it with Chace Crawford. Hopefully he can do a better southern accent.

-----------------

So what do y'all think? Agree with my changes? Hate them? Who would be in your dream cast?
