Glory, Glory!

Isn't this a beautiful sight?

Doug and I were soooo excited to go to the first game in Athens this year. We were even more excited by what a blow-out it was!

And I got to see my long, lost friend Suzanne! I forgot to take a picture with her, so here's one from a few years ago!

After the game, we were hot, burnt, and tired. We wanted to watch more football but desperately wanted to lay down. Then Doug had the brilliant idea of bringing the spare mattress (that we have been using as curtains in our bedroom) into the living room! We have been without a couch for probably a month now, and we are going to use Doug's parents' couch that matches the chair in this picture, but we figured we might as well wait until we move to get it from their house.

Haha I just re-read that and realized how hick we must seem, by using a mattress as curtains and having a random mattress/bed in the living room. I guess I should explain the mattress/curtain situation. We bought the mattress from Doug's good friend, Kenny, and we plan to use it in our guest bedroom. The only problem is, we don't have a guest bedroom yet! We are also waiting to buy curtains until we move, so we figured, hey, a mattress will cover the window! Free curtains!

Ahh I can't wait to move and really set up house!

In the past few weeks, Doug has really started to bond with Pepper. This is Doug's first cat experience, and I knew that he would fall in love with Pep. Here are my 2 boys being so sweet!

Doug also made Pep a fort, and he absolutely loves it! He put 2 blankets over our coffee table. Pep sleeps in there all day and loves to bring toys or other objects he finds in there (like Doug's UGA class ring and lots of pencils that he steals :)

Sometimes Pep thinks he is smaller than he really is.

The view from inside the fort

Doug is not as small as he thinks he is either :)

Our Labor Day was so relaxing. We went to the pool, played lots of board games (we love any game or competition!), and grilled out some chicken!

YUM!

How to Pick a Puppy?

Since my freshman year at UGA, I have wanted a female Boston Terrier named Lola. On a grocery trip to Target, I spontaneously bought her the most adorable bed and food/water dish. And now it is 4 years later, and I still don't have Lola!
I don't really know when we will get a dog (sooner than later hopefully :) but Doug and I are talking about it. I agree with him that we don't want one if we are in an apartment, we would rather have a yard that he/she can run around in. But since we are in the process of trying to move..... :) Let's just say it's the only thing on my Christmas list!
Since it might be in the near future, I have started to do my research on what kind of dog I want. This little face has been in my heart for 4 years now
BUT, when I petsat for Chef last year (the chef at Towne Lake Hills, where I used to work), I fell madly in love with his boxer (who I kind of renamed Lola for the week :) It just fit her too perfectly). She was such a cuddler and didn't realize she wasn't the usual size of a lap dog. So this got me thinking maybe I want a boxer?

My only concern is that they are known to be very hyper. Lola wasn't, and I'm sure there are some that aren't. I think they are the perfect size and just couldn't be cuter. I've read that they are great family dogs, too.
I am open to other breeds, too. I know that I want to adopt a dog from a shelter or a rescue. (Soapbox moment!) If you are looking to get a new dog, PLEASE consider adopting rather than buying from a petstore or breeder. There are so many sweet and adorable dogs out there that need a good home.
For example, we got THE BEST DOG in the entire world from the humane society- meet my little baby Deuce. He has been in our family since I was in the 7th grade, and I don't think it's possible for us to love him any more than we do. We may be a little obsessed, but how could you not be with this beautiful face?!

Since we found him at the pound, I am also considering just going to a shelter and finding an adorable mutt to love. So if you have any advice, experience, etc. please leave a comment and let me know! The more info, the better :)

I Love TV

That's right. The best time of the year is here! Season premieres are just a few short weeks away!! I am a TV junkie and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I was so excited that one of my very favorite shows won the Emmy for best comedy

And that my FAVORITE person on the show won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. If you don't watch this show, you must change that immediately. It is the best.

I couldn't get the video to post directly on here, so follow this link to see the Modern Family skit that was at the Emmys. So funny!

Another one of my favorite shows right now is Bachelor Pad. Before you start complaining about how trashy it is, I already know. That's the beauty of it though. Ahh it is so entertaining, I actually like it more than I do Bachelor/Bachelorette. Doug really likes it as well so we have family TV night on Mondays where we make fun of all of the people on there, followed by the always-entertaining Dating in the Dark.

Last night's episode was by far my favorite of the season. The competition was so fun to watch (I'll admit that I did feel bad for some of the girls who got voted "Stupidest in the house" and "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride"). And finally, I got to see my two favorites, Kiptyn and Tenley, become a couple!
I was really liking Jesse B. and Peyton together, until she made him that martini and he started acting like a 6 year old. Poor girl!
Since I got Netflix a few weeks ago, I have caught up on another great show, Dexter. It's about a serial killer who only kills serial killers. Love it! I'm about to start season 4, which aired last year, then I will be all caught up. He just got married and has a baby on the way!

Another show that I have loved for a long time is Desperate Housewives, and Doug actually likes this one, too! I can't wait to see what's going to happen on Wisteria Lane this year!

I also really like Castle. Although, the romance is taking a little too long to develop. They both love each other, but no one does anything about it. I'm ready for some action!

And one of my all-time favorites, Grey's Anatomy. I looooove this show. I looooove McDreamy. And McSteamy. And the new guy with the blue eyes. Last season's finale was amazing but I don't think I have ever been so afraid watching something. It came on 2 days before our wedding, and I got everything finished early just so I could relax and watch my favorite show. Little did I know, it would be the most intense 2 hours and keep me up all night. But it was so worth it!
I have also loved The Office, but I feel like the past few seasons have gone waaay downhill. It also comes on at the same time that Grey's does, so I just catch up every once in a while on the computer. And this season is Michael Scott's last, so who knows if it will be any good after! Although I hear they plan on bringing Amy Ryan (love of Michael's life) back and possibly have a wedding!? That would be a great way to take him out. I'm always up for a sweet wedding!

The season premieres are just 3 weeks away! GET EXCITED!!
