Our Family Doppelgangers

Doug and I have come to the realization that our family very much resembles a few particular celebrities. We are one good looking family....just sayin'!

I am a little obsessed with the CamWow app...there may be a whole post of Doug and I's mutated pictures coming soon :-)

Weekend Recap

I can't think of a creative/exciting title, so we'll just go with this. This may be one of those posts where I want to write down everything we did so I can look back on it, but it may not be the most exciting post! But, if you enjoy pictures of cute animals, read on :-) We had such a busy but fun weekend! This will probably be a long post (with picture overload) so I'll try to make it short and sweet.

We didn't do much Friday besides a couple trips to the dog park, where Maisy found a best friend named Buddy. They were the cutest things playing together. Hopefully we'll see Buddy sometime when it's not dark out so I can take pictures of the BFFs.

Saturday, we headed over to Marietta for Pawpaw's birthday lunch at Ruth's Chris, where I had the best steak of my life! Then we brought Maisy over to meet them, and they just adored her!

(sorry for the terrible quality of these pictures...it's just so convenient with an iphone!)

I'm so glad my mom got this great picture of us with our girl (who is smiling!!) If only Pep was in it, too!

Maisy also met Deuce, our beloved family dog. Deuce is 12 years old now and doesn't want to play like Maisy does, so he was a little annoyed when she kept punching him. But Maisy calmed down and then they got along great!

Then we brought her over to the in-laws' where she met their dog, Nikki, a mini schnauzer. Poor Nikki was a little intimidated of our Maisy Mae!

Saturday night, we had a lazy night watching baseball and playing with the fur babies. Maisy is such a little cuddlebug!! She just can't get close enough to you. She started down by my legs....

And scooted her way up!

And don't worry about Pep, we're giving him lots of love and attention, too! Here's my sweet boy asleep on my leg.

On Sunday, we went non-stop. One of the highlights was taking Maisy hiking at a local park. They actually had some great trails and Maisy pulled me up the steep hills :-) She had the best time and absolutely wore us out. She also didn't mind splashing around in the creek, so we can't wait to see if she'll swim in Doug's parents' pool! Then, Doug had the brilliant idea of making snow cones! Lemon-lime snow cones are one of my favorite things ever, but the flavor is so hard to find. Luckily, we had several bottles stored from last summer :-)

Then we headed to Home Depot for flower baskets!!! I have been so excited for spring to get here so we could finally buy some hanging flower baskets for our patio. We spent the rest of the night working outside...hopefully I'll have some pictures up soon of what it looks like now!

Okay here's a few more pictures of Maisy Mae:

Y'all, this is so gross. Doug wants to be "fair" to her and play tug of war like she does...with her toy in his mouth. Luckily, the rope was brand new, but I'm afraid he might do it again. Ugh!

Cheering for the Braves!

Sometimes we call her "Gene Simmons"...I think you can figure out why!

Maisy loves laying on the couch with her head on the pillow, so I just had to get her a pillow for her bed at night :-) She loves it!
And did you see her adorable collar? She's so stylish.

Maisy

I'm sorry 2 of the pictures yesterday didn't work! They are working now, but here is my favorite one of her so far:

Her tongue is out like this probably 95% of the time. She has the CUTEST personality and we are just crazy about her. But yesterday wasn't such a good day for her and it broke my heart! I won't go into too much detail, but the poor girl was having some stomach issues when she was going to the bathroom. This started Wednesday night. It continued Thursday and she was acting normal except that she didn't want to eat anything. Around 5:30, she started throwing up. And it was so pitiful because she would just go in her crate and lay down because she knew what she did was "bad" but we weren't mad at her at all! I knew she couldn't help that she was sick.

We figured it was just her body's reaction to a big change in her life, since Boxers have sensitive tummies and she didn't have any symptoms before we adopted her. So last night around 9, I decided I couldn't watch her feel bad anymore and I had to do something about it. We took her to the emergency vet, where she got an IV and a shot for anti-nausea and she felt great right after! I may have cried a couple times when they wouldn't let me go back with her...she was so scared! It was a late night for me and Doug, but she has felt great since and has actually been very hungry today. So I'm happy to report our girl is back to normal...just in time for a fun weekend meeting the family!

One thing last night made me so happy. She was nervous in the vet's office, and she would just climb up on my lap and want me to hold her. Then, when they came to get her for the IV, she wouldn't go with them. They told me that I could walk with her there, and as soon as I started, she was walking right beside me. The guy asked, "You just adopted her 24 hours ago? Wow...she's already attached!"

So am I :-) We love our little girl!
