A Celebrity's Birthday

In my family, birthdays are a big deal. 80th birthdays are an even bigger deal. On New Year's Eve this year, my Mamaw will be 80 years old! Since we won't all be together for it, we celebrated over Thanksgiving.

We started out by going to Ruth's Chris. Once you eat their steak, you can never eat steak anywhere else...it never compares to theirs!

Then came the moment I've been waiting for! The gifts! I've mentioned in the past month or so that I was working on a big project and now I can finally show it off! First, I made a slideshow of pictures from Mamaw's life. But the best gift was the People Magazine. Mamaw LOVES People, she gets it every week as soon as it hits the stands. Mamaw also looks like a celebrity (read: gorgeous) and people have always told her that. So we decided to combine those interests and give her a gift she'll never forget!

Mamaw had the best reaction that I could have hoped for. I have the sweetest pictures of her crying, but she may kill me if I post those :)

Now for the magazine. I couldn't have made this without My Memories Suite that I won in a giveaway a few months ago. (They have no idea I'm writing about them...I just want y'all to know how great it is!) Most of the articles in here were inspired from real articles in People. My favorites are Chic at all Ages, their Love Story (written by Pawpaw!), and Who Wore it Best :)

Okay here's the rest!

Happy Birthday Mamaw! We love you SO MUCH!

Fever

Baby Fever, that is. And I have it. (I also have Bieber Fever, but that's another post for another day)

It all started when I went home for Thanksgiving. I finally got to meet Laura's precious little Grayson, who was so adorable and sweet despite being sick.

(This is not Grayson, BTW...just an incredibly adorable babe)
Then we found out that Doug's cousin, Angela and her husband Brandon, are expecting a baby girl in March.

Then Allison McCleskey joined us for our Thanksgiving feast...her and her hubby Andrew are expecting their first as well! I relished in every detail they told me- names, nursery ideas...and they are starting a blog so I can continue to soak up all of the baby excitement!

And then when I thought all of the baby madness was over, there happened to be the most beautiful family on our flight home, complete with 2 of the most precious kids I've ever seen. Doug told me I should probably stop smiling/staring at them so much, for their parents may think I'd snatch them (at that moment, I wouldn't put it past me....they were that cute)

One of my favorite conversation topics of all time is discussing baby names. It's a frequent discussion in our house. Why are boy names so difficult? We have several girl names but only one or two boy names.

Basically, babies have been on the brain A LOT lately. And that's a good and bad thing. Good because it's SO.MUCH.FUN. to think about. But bad because I know it isn't the right time for us for a couple more years. And the waiting is a little difficult for someone whose only dream as a little girl was to be a mom. But until the time is right, I will continue to treat Maisy and Pep like my children :)

My Gift to You

Since my sweet friend Brittany from college posted this (embarrassing) video to my Facebook wall, I guess there's no point in hiding it now! I took 3 semesters of ASL in college, and this was one of my final projects. My professor always told me to work on my facial expressions, but I may have gone a little overboard here :)

(It won't let me embed it, so just click on "Watch on Youtube")
