I Love TV

That's right. The best time of the year is here! Season premieres are just a few short weeks away!! I am a TV junkie and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I was so excited that one of my very favorite shows won the Emmy for best comedy

And that my FAVORITE person on the show won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. If you don't watch this show, you must change that immediately. It is the best.

I couldn't get the video to post directly on here, so follow this link to see the Modern Family skit that was at the Emmys. So funny!

Another one of my favorite shows right now is Bachelor Pad. Before you start complaining about how trashy it is, I already know. That's the beauty of it though. Ahh it is so entertaining, I actually like it more than I do Bachelor/Bachelorette. Doug really likes it as well so we have family TV night on Mondays where we make fun of all of the people on there, followed by the always-entertaining Dating in the Dark.

Last night's episode was by far my favorite of the season. The competition was so fun to watch (I'll admit that I did feel bad for some of the girls who got voted "Stupidest in the house" and "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride"). And finally, I got to see my two favorites, Kiptyn and Tenley, become a couple!
I was really liking Jesse B. and Peyton together, until she made him that martini and he started acting like a 6 year old. Poor girl!
Since I got Netflix a few weeks ago, I have caught up on another great show, Dexter. It's about a serial killer who only kills serial killers. Love it! I'm about to start season 4, which aired last year, then I will be all caught up. He just got married and has a baby on the way!

Another show that I have loved for a long time is Desperate Housewives, and Doug actually likes this one, too! I can't wait to see what's going to happen on Wisteria Lane this year!

I also really like Castle. Although, the romance is taking a little too long to develop. They both love each other, but no one does anything about it. I'm ready for some action!

And one of my all-time favorites, Grey's Anatomy. I looooove this show. I looooove McDreamy. And McSteamy. And the new guy with the blue eyes. Last season's finale was amazing but I don't think I have ever been so afraid watching something. It came on 2 days before our wedding, and I got everything finished early just so I could relax and watch my favorite show. Little did I know, it would be the most intense 2 hours and keep me up all night. But it was so worth it!
I have also loved The Office, but I feel like the past few seasons have gone waaay downhill. It also comes on at the same time that Grey's does, so I just catch up every once in a while on the computer. And this season is Michael Scott's last, so who knows if it will be any good after! Although I hear they plan on bringing Amy Ryan (love of Michael's life) back and possibly have a wedding!? That would be a great way to take him out. I'm always up for a sweet wedding!

The season premieres are just 3 weeks away! GET EXCITED!!

The Pink Ladies

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!?!?

Yes. It is time for fantasy football! This will be my 3rd year. The first year, I was undefeated until the championship game, when all of my players suddenly decided that they were tired of scoring me many points. Doug beat me, and I was not happy! The second year, I stayed undefeated throughout the entire season and beat all the boys! So this year, I have a reputation to maintain.

I wasn't quite as prepared as I usually am for my draft (okay, I forgot about it until the night before) but I managed to get a pretty decent team with a few all-stars. And, of course, there was plenty of trash talk going on in the draft.

Here's the line-up:

QB: Brandon Weeden (OKST) and Kellen Moore (BST)- these two will probably rotate depending on who they play each week

RB: Mark Ingram (AL), DeMarco Murray (OK)- my all-stars

WR: AJ Green (UGA), DeVier Posey (OHST), Markeith Summers (MS), Tramain Swindall (TXTECH)

TE: Dwayne Allen (CLEM)

K: Blair Walsh (UGA)

DST: Southern Cal and North Carolina (especially excited about this one!)

If you are wondering about the title of this post, The Pink Ladies, well...that is my awesome team name. I just wanted a name that screams "YOU GOT BEAT BY A GIRL!" to all the guys in my league. I think this does the job pretty well.

Craft Corner

This summer, while having waaaay too much free time on my hands, I have done a few little projects here and there. I have only done a few because every time I walk into Hobby Lobby, I spend a lot more money than I ever intended to.

I bought this beautiful cross at HL for 50% off.

When my mom saw it, she wanted one! So I sponge painted it white to match her pretty new room! I also covered my first cushion for the wicker furniture in her room.

For the next project, I got the brilliant idea from Laura. I got 9 square frames from the dollar store and painted them chocolate brown.

Then I got 9 different sheets of scrapbook paper for about .50 each. This comes to a grand total of $15!

I bought these pictures in Charleston a few months ago and I have been searching for a frame ever since! I saw a wrought-iron frame in IKEA a few years ago, but I couldn't find one like it anywhere. Finally, I found this frame at Homegoods for $10! I painted it the same chocolate brown, and it is just lovely!

My adorable little helper

Wow, sorry this post was so incredibly boring! Doug and I are currently considering where/when/if we want to move, and when that happens, I will have a lot more to decorate!

Boone is in Covington!

There are famous people in Covington! I had always heard that Vampire Diaries was filmed here, but in the year and a half that Doug has lived here, we never saw it. Well that changed tonight. We drove through the square and there were all these vans, wardrobe racks, and tons of people with headsets on. I have never seen the show, but I knew that Ian Somerhalder is on it (who was also Boone on LOST- Suzanne and I's absolute favorite character). As some of you might know, I kind of freak out if any celebrities are around. It might be embarassing but I just don't care. I'm not that girl who screams or cries, but I do like to get lots of pictures and watch them for as long as possible. Wow that sounds creepy.

So Doug and I sat and watched them film a scene outside the Mystic Grill.

BOONE!!!

It was the most excitement this town has ever seen! They are filming until 3am in case anyone wants to make the trek to meet Boone :)

Frank & Cara Tie the Knot

Last weekend, we drove home to spend time with family and to attend one fabulous wedding! Doug loves this picture because it looks like Pepper is driving :)

Here is the lovely couple, Frank and Cara!

This wedding was particularly special to me because I know both families so well. I have known the Engles for practically my entire life. Frank is one of my brother's best friends growing up, and they were groomsmen in each other's weddings. I was also good friends with Frank's sister, Jessie, as we went on many spring breaks, travel baseball trips, and had many, many, many nights at Sandy Plains baseball field where Pawpaw bought us lots and lots of treats from the concession stands :)
Here we are in Hilton Head- Matt, me, and Frank

Then, I met Cathleen (Cara's sister) right before we started high school. We quickly became good friends and had so much fun in high school, including an embarassing video that we made freshman year dancing to Avril Lavigne, in which of course we were dressed in Matt's shorts and my dad's ties. This picture is from spring break our junior year, when I went with her family to Destin.

This wedding was so fun because we got to catch up with so many old friends!
My cute little family-

My goofy brother

The night included a little expressive dancing

And also fun times with Andrew and Allison McCleskey

Matt apparently missed the memo about a big, cheesy grin

Sisters and wine- good combination!

My sweet little hubby

My brudder and seester
Mom and her Matts
I'm not sure what we were scheming? Actually, I think we were excited about cake (which was DELICIOUS)
Then we danced the night away
Cute Pep Moment of the Day: He found his way into the warm pile of clean laundry

Oh My Cupcake!

For my mom's birthday, I try to do something special every year to show how much I appreciate her! One year, she went out of town so I redecorated and painted her room and threw a surprise party at our house, another year I took her to the beach with Christy and Meg (I nannied Jay and Christy's kids, Meg and Brooks, for years...they are like family! Brooks and Meg were junior bridesmaid and groomsman in our wedding.) One year I took her on a cruise, but it's getting hard to come up with good ideas now! My mom and I took a little trip to New York City last October and had such a great time, that I thought I would try to recreate it for her birthday. Little did I know, it would be a very accurate recreation of the trip.

We started our "Night in New York (in Atlanta)" by going to Chocolate Pink, the world's best cupcake shop EVER. Seriously. I wanted a good dessert place to replicate Serendipity's in New York, where we went to get incredibly huge desserts for dinner.

They all looked so amazing but we chose 4 flavors. Starting from the left, Chocolate Fudge, Carrot, Pink Lemonade, and Red Velvet.

I think the Carrot might have been my favorite.

And then they were gone...

They went too quickly, so we decided to get 4 more to go. Once we were in the car, we asked ourselves why we only got 4 more. That was stupid! Next time, we plan to go during Cupcake Happy Hour...yes, this is a real thing. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it?

So after our visit to Cupcake Heaven, we headed over to the Fox to see The Phantom of the Opera! I think the Fox is my favorite Atlanta landmark...or the Varsity...I love me some frosted orange and onion rings. Mmm I just love Atlanta!

This is the part that is weirdly similar to our trip in NYC. We went over Halloween weekend, and of course we went to see the Halloween parade in the Village. It was raining all day and night, but we had to see it while we were there. We got a good spot on the sidewalk and waited with our umbrellas in a smooshed crowd of people. (One thing you might not know about my mom- she is very claustrophobic.) We watched some of the parade then decided to go back to our hotel, since we were drenched. We made our way towards the subway station, which was less than a block away from where we were standing at the parade. Apparently, many of the other people there had the same idea we did. So it was pouring rain, people were pushing, trying to get into the crowded subway station, and we were stuck in the middle of it. I grabbed my mom and pushed through the crowd and got us into the station. We were walking towards the trains and everything was fine, until we saw an even bigger crowd blocking the exit and the stairs to the trains. Obviously, mom was flipping out and she eventually found a policeman to pull us back through the entrance gates away from the people. We stayed down there for probably close to 2 hours, but the crowd wasn't going anywhere. I begged her to just get on a train with me, but she wasn't going back in that crowd! So the policeman and I decided we just needed to get a cab. The stairs to the street were just as crowded, but we eventually pushed our way through (with the help of our 6'6 cop) and got a taxi. We were safely on our way to the hotel....and then our taxi driver got in a wreck. Fun! He hit another taxi but refused to get out of the car to confront the other screaming taxi driver. It was one crazy night...one that I thought was in the past...wrong again!
When we came out of Phantom, it was pouring, which made everyone in the front of the crowd stop so they wouldn't get wet. But people kept coming out and we were stuck in the middle again! We eventually made our way out and had to run 4 blocks in the pouring down rain. It was truly a Night in New York.

After the dejavu, we went for some authentic NY Style pizza at a little dive called Baby Tommy's Taste of New York. I read reviews online that claimed their pizza tasted just like NY pizza, and they were right! It was exactly like the pizzeria across from our hotel in NYC that we visited every night. It topped off a memorable night perfectly! Happy Birthday Mom!

I stayed in Marietta for a couple days while Doug was at work and class all day, so mom and I went out to lunch with one of our favorite people! Carolyn and Cotton are so fun to catch up with!

Cotton is a gorgeous Bichon, but this picture absolutely cracked us up. I guess my camera caught him by surprise!

On Friday night, Doug and I went to the Steve Miller Band concert with my parents. The band is Doug's favorite, so he was pretty dang excited! We went to see the same concert 2 years ago just after we had started dating, so it was fun to recreate this memory, too.

The set was pretty amazing, too!
I will leave you with this bit of sunshine....my little puffball of love! As we were putting away clean dishes, this is what we found:
