Oh my goodness, just to clarify, I'm not pregnant! I had no idea it sounded that way until my mom said to me yesterday, "you know everyone thinks you're pregnant, right?" Whoops! Sorry for the confusion :) But, we do have a new addition to our family....
Meet Maisy Mae Minton:
So last Thursday, I look on Bliss's website to see what dogs they had, and to my surprise, Maisy is back on there! Turns out, her owner has some serious health issues and will be spending a lot of time in the hospital so he had to bring her back to Bliss. Once I saw this, I knew she was meant to be our dog (I know this sounds awful...I'm sad for the guy that he lost his dog and has health issues...I really am!)
So I begin a series of looooooong talks with Doug about this and convince him that she is the perfect dog for us and would complete our happy little home....and it worked! He agreed to do a 'trial weekend' with Maisy that was supposed to start Thursday (today) but I was too impatient and moved it up to yesterday. That's why I had to keep it a secret- just in case it didn't work out (even though I knew it would :)
So my mom and I picked Maisy up last night, took her to Pet Supermarket where she was the belle of the ball...seriously, everyone there loved her and told me I lucked out and got an awesome rescue dog. Then we went home and she met Pepper, which went as good as can be expected. Pep was not thrilled that a big dog was in his house, but he wasn't really scared...just more annoyed. Which is much better in my opinion. We also took Maisy to the dog park in our neighborhood and played fetch. I loved every second of the night!
It's killing me that I can't be with her all day, but thankfully my mom is staying with us today and tomorrow to keep her company. She has some of the cutest quirks about her- like her tongue is always hanging out, which is a Boxer thing that I just love. She also LOVES to hug. If you get on your knees, she will put her front paws on your shoulders and lean in against you. It is precious!! I need to get a video of it. Just a warning: blog material is about to become all about Maisy (and Pep, of course).
This weekend, Maisy will be meeting the family when we go to Marietta for Pawpaw's birthday lunch on Saturday. We'll also be taking another trip to Petsmart to get the rest of her things (I think I love it as much as she does- I'm so proud of my new girl!) And I'm sure there will be many parks visits, too.
I only have these iphone pictures, but I promise to have good ones up soon! And I'm curious, lots of you commented that you thought you knew what the secret was....were you right? :)
